Deep cleaning vacuums These vacuum’s feature a roller brush that pulls up the dirt to be sucked into the containment, allowing deeper cleaning than other models, and some models also feature carpet and hard floor switching as well.
Hand held vacuums This vacuum is light, with cord or cordless, and can usually be mounted to the wall for convenience. For cordless models, the performance will depend on battery quality and the amount of charge it currently has.
Two types of hand-held vacuums are available. The first is the straight suction, and the second suction with a power brush. When buying a hand-held vacuum cleaner, you will want to decide whether it will be regularly used, or for simple small cleanup jobs.
Broom vacuums Broom or stick vacuums are excellent for small apartments, fast cleanups, in the living room or kitchen. Their greatest feature is that they are lightweight. These are great when you don’t want to cart out your big vacuum. These are available in both cordless and corded.
Usually they weigh in around 2 to 7 pounds, and enable you to store them in the closet, since they are small. Most being bagless makes it easy for quick emptying of the dirt and debris.
Wet/Dry vacuums These are sometimes also called shop vacs. Most of them resemble a garbage can with a motor/cord on top. They are a very versatile vacuum as the can be used to pull wet or dry things, and usually with larger tubing to get nearly anything. They usually come with a hose, and numerous attachments. While most of them these days are from 6 up to 22 gallon cans, there are larger industrial models out there as well.
They also will have horsepower ranges from about 2HP up to a whapping 10 horsepower.
Upright vacuums These are bagless units. In addition to higher power, there is no need to buy bags or throw them out either. Just empty the dusty canister and then get back to work.
They also come with a standard set of attachments possibly including an upholstery gizmo, crevice accessory, and quite often an extension as well. Retractable cords and manual/automatic pile adjustments are also often found features. These often have a HEPA filter.
Canister Vacuums Canister Vacs often have 25 foot retractable cords to prevent having to drag around too much cord. Usually a button push, or tug on the cord will cause it draw back into the vacuum cleaner.
They have either nozzle or power nozzle. To get your carpet the cleanest it is recommended you use the power nozzle as it stirs up the carpet for an even deeper cleaning.
They may also have a suction control switch which enables you to control the airflow for even delicates such as upholstery.
While choosing your vacuum cleaner, you will want to choose the one you like the most. The greatest vacuum for the task at hand is the one you should get, as it’ll keep you happier over time.
